Happy New Year! Our first official referee seminars for 2017 are coming up to prepare for the BC Championships and Junior/Senior Team Trials. New kyorugi rules are now in effect and it will be very important for all referees to take a seminar and understand the new rules and hand signals.
Spaces for each seminar are limited, so register early – register now! Details below and on the referee website. Please forward this email to any others who you think may be interested in officiating and to coaches and athletes who want to learn the new rules.
If your referee membership has lapsed, your fee is now past due, so renew now! You will need to pay your referee membership in order to participate in seminars and tournaments.
Upcoming Referee Seminars

The seminar outline and pre-seminar study guide will be available to all registered participants before each seminar.
Regular juniors classes are from 6 to 12 years of age. The juniors classes are geared in a similar fashion to the adult classes with an accent on self-control and mutual respect for instructors and fellow classmates. There are games that are played from time to time to help boost confidence and a spirit of teamwork. Although some individual attention is given, the atmosphere is more group oriented.
These classes are a mixture of cardio, traditional martial arts and partner exercises. Although some sport Taekwondo is involved in our curriculum, the school is more focused on strong traditional technique, self-defense, and the proper execution of forms and basics. Some of the time in class is also spent in learning aspects of Korean language and rules of conduct known as the Taekwondo tenets. The aim is to build strength, self-confidence, and flexibility while getting in shape and learning.
